San Diego's market heats up in spring, summer

Realtors believe that the real estate market in San Diego is picking up the pace in the spring of 2019, and with that means that it will be a busy spring and summer. An active market can be great for sellers and buyers, but there can also be dozens of disputes as a result.

When you enter into the process of buying a home, you may sign a contract to purchase the home under certain conditions. If the seller can't meet those conditions, then you can walk away from the purchase. In some cases, sellers and buyers get into heated arguments over the terms of their contracted agreements and may end up going to court over them.

With San Diego's median home price listed at $583,000, the last thing you want to do is find out you're responsible for paying the mortgage on a home that has problems with its construction or other issues because of a poor contract. These properties can be great investments but only if you buy the right properties.

How can you protect yourself when you buy or sell a home?

One good tip is to work with your attorney to review the contract. While a realtor may bring it to you to sign, that doesn't mean that the contract works in your favor. Have it reviewed and understand what it does or does not do for you, so you don't sign something that you're not happy with.

Take care to be certain of the transaction before you agree to it. Real estate is available throughout the area, so don't worry if one transaction falls through.
